Profile - Dick Cheney

Libby: One of Many
The Decider - where the buck stops - has let the buck fall to Lewis Libby who was apparently instructed first to leak classified information to the Press and subsequently instructed to lie about it to the FBI. Of course he's going to pardon him. But this could be the first of many.

The Grim Milestone
The death of a Texas soldier, announced Sunday by the Pentagon, raised the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq to at least 3,000 since the war began, according to an Associated Press count. The grim milestone was crossed on the final day of 2006 and at the end of the deadliest month for the American military in Iraq in the past 12 months. At least 111 U.S. service members were reported to have died in December. Spc. Dustin R. Donica, 22, of Spring, Texas, was killed Thursday by small arms fire in Baghdad, the Defense Department said. Donica was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. His death was not announced by U.S. military authorities in Baghdad. At least 820 U.S. military personnel died in Iraq in 2006, according to the AP count.

Restoring the Rule of Law & Constitutional Government
It took only minor concessions by the Bush administration to convince enough Democrats to support the renewal of the USA PATRIOT Act and end a Senate filibuster blocking the bill’s passage. In fact on both the renewal of the PATRIOT Act and warrantless domestic spying by the National Security Agency (NSA), the Democrats have recently caved in or are signaling that they soon will. In contrast, only a more militant approach—the repeal of the PATRIOT Act, the ending of warrantless domestic spying, and the opening of the process by which national security warrants are approved—will adequately preserve the liberties that the nation’s founders enshrined in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

Libby May Have
Cheney's chief of staff contacted witness Judith Miller regarding issues important to the case, including whether or not they'd mentioned Plame's name.

Haliburton Awarded Yet Another Major contract
With the cozy $1,000,000 per year "retirement" that Cheney gets from Haliburton, it can't be regarded as suprising, but it still stinks. The question is why the people at the top always seem to be cashing in on tragedies here on the bottom.

Cheney/Edwards
Sometimes, it's a close call. I mean, Did Saddam like Osama? Who's to tell. But sometimes, it's just the facts, Ma'am. And this time, Cheney just out 'n' out lied.

Cheney, that Chicken Hawk, DOING BUSINESS WITH THE ENEMY
Cheney actually did business with terrorist countries and traveled abroad to attack America's counter-terrorism efforts in the 1990s.

Cheney Plays The Devil
"FOR HE HAS NOT GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR, BUT OF FAITH." So when somebody's trying to scare you, its not coming from God, folks, its coming from HELL. And in this case, THE DEVIL IS DICK CHENEY.

According to Kos
The Investigation into the Outing of Valerie Plame is winding down.

Cheney V Cheney
That's the problem with lying - you've got to remember everything you said before so you don't contradict yourself. Here, Cheney clearly forgot...

Kerry's as Legislator
Since George W. Bush never was a legislator, no comparison can be made between his record and John Kerry's. However, Cheney was a Congressman for 11 years. How does his record stack up?

Cheney Gets it Wrong - Again
I don't think even Cheney knows what's going to come tripping out of his mouth next. But here he goes again, contradicting the intelligence, even other administration spokesmen. Hey, he really needs to attend some meetings!

Cheney's Bad Breath
Mr. Cheney's potty mouth is just too easy a target. Suffice it to say, Mrs. Cheney should have washed his mouth out with soap years ago.

Supreme Court Sends Case Back to Lower Court for Ruling on Open Government Law
The Bush administration won't have to reveal secret details of Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force. A perfect example of "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied."

Don't Beleive what you read - Al Quaeda Iraq Ties Found
In an amazing break, right after the panel declared no ties were found, Cheney finally pipes up and says there's evidence. The problem is, now he's got to actually produce the evidence. Oh wait, he hasn't produced any evidence. So the headline from Reuters is a lie! Why is Reuters lieing?

Cheney DEFINITELY Got Haliburton the Deal
The Los Angeles Times reports the gorey details. Never mind the million-dollar-a-year bonus he gets from the services company.

Cheney "coordinated" with Haliburton Bid Award
While receiving upwards of a million dollars a year from Haliburton, Dick Cheney received a memo from the army confirming the "coordination" of the noncompetetive award of business to Haliburton.

Cheney Oiled Halliburton Deals
Did Cheney Okay a Deal? TIME has obtained an internal Pentagon e-mail dated March 5, 2003 that raises questions about Cheney's arm's-length policy toward his old employer.

Cheney & Scalia - The Fix is In
You wanted an independant and impartial judiciary? Who do you think you're kidding?

Cheney's Staff Focus of Probe
Federal law-enforcement officials said that they have developed hard evidence of possible criminal misconduct by two employees of Vice President Dick Cheney's office related to the unlawful exposure of a CIA officer's identity last year. The investigation, which is continuing, could lead to indictments, a Justice Department official said.

Cheney's Making the Rounds, Embarassing the US
Somebody, please tell Dick Cheney to put on some clothes. Like the naked emperor of the fairy tale, the Vice President is on a sweep through Europe asking for help in Iraq, at the same time as insisting that the Iraq invasion had maintained U.S. credibility:

Haliburton Caught with their Hand in the Cookie Jar
Haliburton Overchared 61 Million Dollars. Gee, I wish I had an extra $61 Million.

Place Your Bets, Ladies and Gentlemen
Was it Karl Rove or Scooter Libby that outed Valerie Plame? According to Larry Johnson, A former CIA analyst and Plame co-worker, the information came from the Old Executive Office Building - that's the Vice President's offices.

In Case You Haven't Heard, Cheney Lied Too
Dick Cheney is not a public relations man for the Bush administration, not a spinmeister nor a political operative. He's the vice president of the United States, and when he speaks in public, which he rarely does, he owes the American public the truth.

Halliburton Drowning in Your Money
Halliburton, the company formerly headed by Vice President Cheney, has won contracts worth more than $1.7 billion under Operation Iraqi Freedom and stands to make hundreds of millions more dollars under a no-bid contract awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to newly available documents.

We Wondered What They Were Up TO...
The Bush Administration has already committed at least one felony - and they're working on a lot more.

Cheney - I think we've heard this one before
Cheney started rambling on again about being sure that some country has a nuclear weapons program. Meanwhile David Kay denies that Iraq had any such program. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Cheney - the new Tricky Dick
Cheney's got something to hide - who did he meet with early in 2000 setting the tone for the worst energy debacle in World History - Enron, Duke, Reliant, Dynegy?
