Candidate: Big Business

We have new tenants. They've had to leave their home of 10 years because its being foreclosed. They couldn't pay their mortgage because the wife lost her job. Her knees went out, she needed an operation, she got fired. They declared bankruptcy, lost their home, and are now renters again - and they're close to retirement.

We have to know all of that grief would have been avoided if we had Universal HealthCare.

She would have gotten healthcare before her knees became chronic. She wouldn't have lost her job. She'd be working, they would have paid their mortgage...

I heard a statistic the other day. Something like 65% of all bankruptcies are healthcare related.

How much money do individuals etc. lose every year due to bankruptcies? Corporations?

How much do employers lose in lost hours of work because people are sick - with preventable diseases?

The next time some jerk starts talking about the cost of Universal HealthCare, we can please factor all of the current losses in. It pays for itself 10 times over and we all know it.

The reason we don't have Universal HealthCare is because doctors, hospitals, phamaceuticals and insurance companies make too much money without it.

And mostly, because all of the above pour billions of dollars into the campaigns of our representatives who in turn represent them and not us.

Can we just stop this jive and move on?
