The New Tip

Thetip.org has focused on news coverage for controversial american political issues. This year were focusing somewhere else.

America according to many, is a Christian Nation. "Most" of the people in the United States believe in God. Most of those that beleive in God believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

I am a Christian, I believe that Christ is the only Begotten Son of the One True God, the Messiah by who's death the sins of those who have faith in Him are cleansed.

My salvation I take to be the beginning point for practicing Jesus' Great Commandments which are, as I understand them:

Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind and soul.

Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Be ye perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect.

Go into all the world making Disciples, baptizing in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

These are simple beginning summaries of what is to be done and nobody is to regard themselves as justified by doing these things, neither before or after requesting and accepting the free gift of Christ which is our salvation and eternal life, having become
co-heirs to the Kingdom of God with Him by his act.

The process of being rid of our fleshly desires, carnality and slavish mentality and taking on instead the concerns of the Spirit, the desires of Love and the mind of Christ is what I call Christian Living, growth. For we know that everyone sins, from the least to the greatest, none are perfect. Anyone who says they don't sin is a liar because they are calling God a liar.

And yet our desire for perfection both individual and joint is the right response to Christ's gift. If we are Sons of God, then we ought to be perfect, to act uprightly, justly, kindly and above all with Love, just as Jesus taught us.

For individual concerns this means attending to one's own business, putting away childish sins, lust, greed, laziness, etc. But groups sin as groups. The Egyptians enslaved the Israelites and God judged them. He encoded his laws of group Justice and Personal Morality in the Hebrew Law by which we are not justified nor
to which are we responsible, but by which we can learn of God's heart, to know what God thinks justice is.

In Isaiah, God spells out his desires explicitly, he says:

"Learn to do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, defend the widow" - Isaiah 1:17

Isaiah reminded the Hebrews of these laws, and not the laws about what to eat or whether or not to have sex with your neighbor's wife. Why? Because as Christ said, these were the laws that the Hebrews had failed to observe. Christ said:

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the Law, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!" - Matthew 23:13

This was because the Pharisees failed to do the things that Isaiah accused them of, to defend the poor, the oppressed, the fatherless. Instead they fo
cused on obeying the personal cleanliness laws, in many ways because these are easier.

When Christ asks us to seek justice and mercy and faith, we are to do just that. We are to seek justice by rooting out those instances of injustice and arighting them, both jointly and severally. We are to identify the opressed and the opressor, rebuke the opressor and defend the opressed. We are to take sides in the battle for goodness by ourselves being good, both personally and jointly.

I would call this one of the great missions of the Church, to be the jointly-acting arm of righteousness of God's body on Earth. Each of us individually is God's body, responsible to treat our own bodies as holy temples of God. The Church, too, is the Holy Temple of God, also to be known as a house of Justice and Mercy, where those who are oppressed can seek relief.

In politics, Christians are therefore also required to take sides. Which side? The side of the Republicans who increase taxes for the p
oor while giving breaks to the wealthy, who are warmongers, not peacemakers? The side of the Democrats who say what is not so is so, that killing unborn babies is right and who compromise on every issue? What side can a Christian take?

God gave us our answer. The side of the oppressed, the poor, the enslaved, the side of justice.

Our country is in need of a real "Jesus and Nothing Else" party - a party that stands up for the oppressed in our country and abroad, that doesn't gloss over the needs of the people and that doesn't call evil good and good evil. A party of justice and equity and mercy as Christ called us. Where will we find such men?

Let's face it, our current American Political Leadership are not fitting the bill. The Bible says that all authority comes from God, and yet Ahab was removed from power by the righteous acts of His Prophet Elijah because Ahab wasn't doing the things befitting a king of Israel, promoting justice and peace, defending the poor and th
e oppressed. Instead, Ahab had joined the side of the oppressors. Elijah heeded God's call to his own peril and called a spade a spade, told the wicked king that his time was up.

God has seen and does see the injustice done in the United States and by the United States all over the world and though he loves us Christians who are faithful, he's calling us to fulfill his great commandments, to seek justice and peace. He's calling me to rebuke the oppressor and defend the widow and I will answer.

George Bush and the Republican Leadership have again taken the side of the rich against the poor, by making it nearly impossible for the debtors to get out of their debt. The ancient law of the Hebrews released all debt after 7 years, the year of Jubilee and that had been the law of the United States up until yesterday. Who's going to call him on it? I'm calling him on it. George, you're not fulfilling the will of God, you're siding with the oppressor along with the rest of the p
eople who voted for that bill. God will not suffer the oppressor to go on, but will cut you down unless you repent. Repent and do good!

john writes:

"little children, it is the
last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist
shall come, even now are there many antichrists;
whereby we know that it is the last time" i john
2:18

the spirit of the antichrist is just
like you said, s/he sets up shop in the church and
pretends to be of the church but then goes on
denying christ and his commands.

also,
check out amos 8:5 and following, it rings
all-to-familiar for american
capitalism:

8:4 listen to this, you who
trample the needy, and get rid of the destitute in
the land.

8:5 you say,“when will the
new moon festival be over, so we can sell
grain?
when will the sabbath end, so we can
open up the grain bins?
we’re eager to sell
less for a higher price, and to cheat the buyer
with rigged scales.

8:6 we’re eager to
trade silver for the poor, a pair of sandals for
the needy.
we want to mix in some chaff with
the grain.”

8:7 the lord confirms this
oath by the arrogance of jacob:
“i swear i
will never forget all you have done!

8:8
because of this the earth will quake, and all who
live in it will mourn. the whole earth will rise
like the river nile, it will surge upward and then
grow calm, like the nile in egypt.

8:9 in
that day,” says the sovereign lord, “i will
make the sun set at noon,
and make the earth
dark in the middle of the day.

8:10 i
will turn your festivals into funerals, and all
your songs into funeral dirges. i will make
everyone wear funeral clothes and cause every head
to be shaved bald. i will make you mourn as if
you had lost your only son; when it ends it will
indeed have been a bitter day.

8:11 be
certain of this, the time is coming,” says the
sovereign lord, “when i will send a famine
through the land. i’m not talking about a
shortage of food or water but an end to divine
revelation.

there are people who
think that buying low and selling high and making
margarine -seem like b-tter- in order to sell it
is a good thing. but it's not, god's not happy
with it now, nor was he then.

the spirit
of the antichrist pretends to have the name
christ, but then does exacty the opposite of what
christ says. welcome to america, where the poor
are oppressed, where we cheat people daily, where
we think charging interest isn't a sin, where all
of christianity is turned upside down.

no
doubt, this is the church that christ spoke about
in revelation:

3:16 so because you are
lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, i am going to
vomit you out of my mouth! 3:17 because you say,
“i am rich and have acquired great wealth, and
need nothing,” but do not realize that you are
wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, 3:18
take my advice and buy gold from me refined by
fire so you can become rich! buy from me white
clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful
nakedness will not be exposed, and buy eye salve
to put on your eyes so you can see!

we
think we're rich because we have things, but in
reality we've forgotten the lord and have nothing.
why is this? because we've forgotten that each
of us is responsible to god for our actions and
instead have let our rulers, the wealthy and the
powerful of our country, take over our duties as
people to take care of the oppressed, the poor,
the needy.

and what do the powerful
care for the needy? the needy are needy because
the greedy are greedy!

according to right wing radical ,political
preachers...and i literally mean political ...the
choice for the presidential election, was the
choice between good and evil,,, and if you voted
for the evil, you would burn in hell for
eternity...congregations even vowed their
support....{for fear of the wrath of god}...

could this be the "anti-christ" that is
referred in the holy bible?

bush is gun
ho on spreading peace in the middle
east,
under the mis-leadership, lies, force ,
fear and arrogance...

now does that have
any ring of "christianity"?????

is this
the "anti-christ" that is referred to in the holy
bible??

while on the other hand, one of
these so called ministers has prophesied , that
the 3 world war will begin in dec,
2006....

talking out of both corners of
their mouth..bush and his base.... they have it
covered, but they cant have it both
ways.
power and global control and domination
is at issue here .....and they will use any tool
or deity to accomplish their
"mission"..

could this be the anti-christ
that is referred to in the holy
bible?

god have mercy.
