The Gentiles

Or Honkeys or Ha'ole's or Negros or Spics or the unwashed masses.

Source: Robbie Lindauer, 2005-05-24

Candidate: Robert Lindauer

One of the things that has made this war with Iraq "okay" in the collective American Mind is that the people being bombed by the thousands are heathen, semites and generally backwards.

That is, they're THEM to our obvious US. Their religion "Radical Islam" is evil because it allows killing people in defense of their nation. "Our" religion, "Fundamentalist Christianity", also allows the same thing apparently. The difference, ours is ours, theirs is theirs. When we practice "Our" killing religion, they die, when they practice theirs, we die. Obviously us dying is bad, so their religion is bad.

It doesn't take a genius to see that turnabout is fair play here. If it's okay for us to kill them, then its got to be okay for them to kill us. That's just the rules of war. When you go to war, it starts being okay to kill. Well, unless, of course, you're a real fundamentalist Christian. By that I don't mean any namby-pamsy Christian who likes the sound of the name, but the kind th
at takes Christ's words literally, like "Turn the other cheek" or "blessed are the peacemakers" or "if your brother takes your cloak from you, give him your shirt too". Those kinds of Christians have to regard all this killing for the sake of our government as a terrifying abuse of God's holy name - the idea that a man could be head of a government and unilatterally start a war is obscene - especially with the religious overtones.

But something makes it okay, still, even for us radical Christians, and it's this - "if your BROTHER ..." Christ appears to be limiting his discourse to His Brothers. Who cares about the other people who aren't my brother. And who is my brother? Whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother and my sister. Well, that's what Jesus said. So those unwashed heathens who don't do the will of my Father, what should we do with them.

Jesus is definitive on the matter, he says to slaughter them wholesale. Preferably leave lots of blood behind
as a warning to others who would similarly defy His Holy People, the United States of America. If someone disobeys American Law, even if they're not in American, they deserve to die and it is our God given right and duty to exterminate every one who doesn't obey American Laws and accept American-Christian ideology.

Well, as long as they're black, hispanic, semetic, asian, indian, Native American, pacific islanders or if we're really in a pinch, middle-european (those slavs are only white people when it's convenient). Imagine if England had nuclear weapons and was poised to deliver them at a moment's notice!! We couldn't bomb them because there are too many REAL WHITE PEOPLE there. Oh wait, England is poised to deliver a nuclear weapon worldwide at a moment's notice.

Okay, back to non-sarcasm. Jesus, if you'll read the bible carefully, never said anything about wholesale slaughtering anyone. In fact, he was quite definitive in the opposite direction. He said to LOVE YOUR
ENEMY and BLESS THOSE THAT CURSE YOU. So, if the Iraqi's are our enemies, our job is to bless them. And it's a pretty crass reading that would have them blessed with bombs. Bless them how? Bless them the way God would bless them, by loving them first.

What does that mean? It means that if we wanted to solve this problem -REALLY- we should have gone after being kind to the people of Iraq. And if you're a believer, you know that this tactic would have and still might work.

It's time to lay down the guns and start pulling up with some kindness for the Iraqis. It's going to be hard to heal the wounds we've caused, but it's time to fess up. We bombed their country for no good reason and we've installed a despotic puppet government (again) for our own selfish gains. And it's time to repent.

But this isn't just about Iraq, it's about all "heathens" - others. The people that you don't like because they are THEY and you are US. It's time to face it, the US isn't a good idea
, it's a clandestine way of saying it's okay to hurt some people when it's deemed necessary by "us". The generalized problem with the "us" is that membership in the "us" is fleeting and shifty and guaranteed to make you someone else's "them". Christ said "whoever lives by the sword will die by the sword." That's right, what comes around goes around.

This is also a warning to those who still think that killing is good and who practice it - what comes around goes around. The mighty will be felled by God when the time is right for they have shed the blood of His Saints who, like lambs to the slaughter, are rejected by the world. When the day of Judgement comes, God will look at those to whom he'd entrusted the ruling of this world and will accuse them of killing His Children. "Woe", He says, "to him through whom troubles come, they would have been better off never being born."

And comfort to the righteous, the chosen and the forgiven - the repenting. Don't fret at the tempora
ry success of the wicked, for like the grass they are green today and torn down tomorrow. But God will never let His people stumble, though we may die, yet will we live!

So even God has an Us and a Them. But he won't be breaking the lines along races or classes or income brackets or countries, but along the lines of kindness and love and repentence and forgiveness - those who repent get their forgiveness and get to be in God's "US". And the rest are the "Them" - the real nobodies. For what matters - the truth - is what God thinks. If you're somebody in God's eyes, you're somebody. If not, you're genuinely nobody.

history is always written by the victors. if
saddam kills thousands of people because he feels
threatened, it is genocide. if dubya and rumsfeld
do it, it is defending our interests. if saddam
holds people without cause and tortures them to
try to get them to confess to something they
probably never did, it is war crimes. if dubya and
rumsfeld do it, it is interrogation. do you see
where i am going with this? do you really think
that hitler thought he was being evil when he
murdered millions of jews? he felt he was
defending his interests. torture and murder are
still torture and murder, no matter how you try to
justify it.
