Today, on Crossfire, Novak stepped in it again. Spitting into James Caravel's face about a rumor that J. Edgar Hoover was a cross dresser, Novak said "It was a communist plot."

Gosh, I feel so sorry for James. Want to hand him a towel every time he's up against Novak. But that's not the point.

Here's the point.

My Aunt Luisa Brown (of the Philadelphia Brown's, don't you know) was a New York Model in the 20's and 30's. She was often escorted to the hot clubs of the day, 21, etc., and saw and was seen by the famous and infamous.

Among her memorabilia was a picture she had of herself sitting at a table with none other than J. Edgar Hoover and his boyfriend. Yes, I'm afrid J. wasn't just a cross dresser. It was well-known and common knowledge - the way JFK's affairs were well-known.

Aunt Luisa gave her photograph to NBC's "60 Minutes" and it was used, along with an interview she did with them, in a show they did on Hoover some years ago.

Bob, no communist plot. Just human nature.
