![]() Impeach George Bush Evolution of a Nation Just some thoughts. Maybe worthless, but still, just thinking. 200 plus years ago, every "nation" on earth was a dictatorship. A monarchy to be sure, but no one voted for those monarchs. Still other places on earth weren't nations at all, and had no "Heads of State." Source: The TIP, 2005-02-28 Candidate: TheTIP They were ruled by councils, Chiefs, Medicine Men, Shamen...and assorted Czars, Kings, Queens and Emperors. Then, in an isolated continent, some foreign invaders, believing they had some sort of "manifest destiny" to take and rule a continent that didn't belong to them, they took the land. They enslaved another people, harnessed their slave labor for their own benefit, then took the profits...they hit a single, stole two bases and came home on a foul. And they called it Capitalism. None of the Founding Fathers would ever have dreamed of invading a foreign country to impose on them their "Democracy." Those men wanted to keep to themselves and build their fortunes without foreign entanglements. Overtime, those monarchies evolved into some form of parliamentary, represented governments. And they evolved from Capitalism to Socialism. One rather large country revolutionized to Communism and it was determined to exports its government. The Russian Revolution didn't work, however. Nor did the Facistic Revolution of Germany. Fifty years ago, some Americans believed they could impose our way of life on Viet Nam. Viet Nam proved intransigent. The lesson should have been learned. Apparently, it wasn't. Today, for some reason, George W. Bush believes it is a good idea to export our American Democracy and violently and forcefully impose it on other nations. Beginning with Iraq, Bush arrogantly proclaimed his intention to remake the map of the Middle East in his image. Like Stalin and Hitler before him, Bush will not prevail. In the meantime, however, hundreds of thousands of lives will be lost, millions disrupted. Maybe its time for the US to evolve a little more. Maybe it will take a swift kick in the butt. St.John 2005-04-08 10:41:59 getting the frogs in a wheelbarrow jim hightower once said that getting liberals organized was like carrying frogs in a wheelbarrow. the time has come to do just that. newt gingrich set the conservative wheels rolling when he engineered their takeover of congress, and the neo-cons and the military industrial complex united to steal the presidency. if we do not organize a united front we are all going to be lining up to take a shower. it is the year 2005 and the rightists are winning. every victory that they gain pushes them further to the right and at the far end of this political spectrum is the same fascism that that led to world war two. the democratic party, like the republican party, has been financed by the corporations for many years. drilling in the alaska game preserve opens the doors to the corporations to despoil all of our natural wonders. ballooning the national debt is an attack on the united states. ending social security and all other entitlements is an attack on the american people. corporation control of the media and the universities is an -ssault on humanity. the bush administration is rapidly losing the support of the american people. they can only go so far before, like all fascists, they tip their hand and show themselves for the bastards they are. but they are organized and they have the power of the corporations behind them. we on the other hand are all shaking our own trees. every progressive american’s mailbox is stuffed with pleas for money for a hundred causes. we are on the defensive and the republicans are on the offensive. how can we take the offensive? before we can do that we are going to have to get all of the frogs in one wheelbarrow. amnesty, the aclu, the sierra club, progressive democrats, the black caucus, the labor unions, the naacp, the socialist party, the nature conservancy, george soros, michael moore, jesse jackson and yes--jim hightower with his wheelbarrow. what issues are we going to concentrate on? for starters: the presidential appointments of people who advocate torture. we must insist that the perpetrators of abu graib be punished—not just the grunts, but all the way up to the president. we must insist that our signature on the geneva convention be honored. we must raise a hue and cry about every lie that has been told to the american people. how in hell is anyone going to save the whale when there has been a bill of impeachment sitting on senator conyers desk written by one of the best lawyers in the country (francis boyle), without a single senatorial signature. not from kucinich, not from kerry, and not from that great liberal senator kennedy. first things first amigos! From: NEW YORKER 2005-03-17 10:12:33 people won't realize how good we had it until it's gone. From: NOT BUSHWACKED 2005-03-04 12:27:08 and to simplify the "whole damm mess"...this country is going to "hell" under the so called idealism of the bush administration.. spread democracy? ...or is it in reality..."connive, confuse, converge, conquer and control".. new world order.... From: Linda 2005-03-02 20:19:15 new yorker: at least that's what we had four years ago. since then, our economy is in the dumpster, our neighbors are less and less friendly, and our workforce is less inclined to do a days work for a minutes wages. the military is clearly overstretched and the national guard, conscripted to pick up the slack, is unable to fill its quotas. any pride in being an american is gone as american tourists abroad are now pretending to be canadians or mexicans in order ot avoid identification. all of that to cover up the fact that our american way of life is anethema to world peace. From: new yorker 2005-03-02 12:23:25 it's like that board game "risk". the final goal is world domination. these people should just relax. this country has plenty. we have hard workers, a good economy, a strong military, friendly neighbors to our north and south. what are we trying to accomplish? |
