![]() Impeach George Bush Cheney v Edwards Each side claims victory. Cheney made only a few really whopping errors - Edwards didn't make any. Clearly, Kerry/Edwards won the first two debates. Can they turn it into an election win? Source: The TIP, 2004-10-06 Candidate: TheTIP Republicans claim victory. As Cheney's voting record was recounted by John Edwards, Cheney smiled wryly. Red meat for Cheney's Republican supporters - he doesn't need to explain his votes against a Martin Luther King holiday or in support of Nelson Mandella - both anathema to the Republican Right Wing. Cheney voted to reduce funding for the Department of Education? Of course he did. The Right Wing agenda calls for closing down the Department of Education. Meals on Wheels - A welfare program! The same voting laundry list that appalls Democrats warms the cockles of good Republicans' hearts. That's why both Republicans and Democrats can claim a victory. But what of the rest of the debate? John Edwards, a newcomer to Washington, undoubtedly held his own against the Republican warhorse who has worked the Washington system since Richard Nixon made phone calls to his Plumbers in 1972. With all his experience, Cheney was unable to break through the positive optimism of the younger man. Edwards appeared Kennedy-esque, a promise of Camelot to come, compared to the old and ailing incumbent. Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate, George W. Bush is furiously "working hard" to make up his dismal showing last week. Clearly the Feather Weight, Bush was unable to defend his own Administration's record on Iraq, the web of deceit first revealed by Treasure Secretary Paul O'Neill more than a year ago was further disclosed by former CPA Paul Bremer and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld during this week's news cycle. Bush will have to defend his domestic agenda this Friday against the Kerry/Edwards first string, John Kerry. Bush is shooting blanks, however. The Republican driven Medicare Reform, Ecological and Energy records and No Child Left Behind are indefensible, as are his budgets for the last four years. Republicans as well as Democrats were appalled as Republican Whip Tom DeLay broke every written and unwritten rule to pass the now discredited Medicare Bill. Elders are finding out just how badly they have been betrayed by the Republican Congressional/Pharmaceutical coalition. DeLay is under investigation by the Ethics Committee for his part in the arm-twisting necessary to pass the bill, and a criminal investigation is underway at the Justice Department to determine if criminal laws were broken by DeLay to achieve a repeat of the 1994 Republican upset, the gerrymandering in Texas necessary to redraw the Texas map to move six Congressional seats from blue to red in 2004. Tom DeLay, we all knew Newt Gingrich. You, sir, are no Newt Gingrich! Team Bush/Cheney/DeLay is in trouble. Against the ropes. On Friday Kerry could deliver a knock-out blow. Round three. Ding. From: femdem 2004-10-07 18:04:06 linda: i couldn't have said it better, thank you... thank you, and did i say thank you! From: Linda 2004-10-07 16:27:50 in other words, tony, george w bush screws us daily. clinton screwed monica, not us. From: femdem 2004-10-07 13:02:43 tony although your writing is very educated and well versed... the underlining difference between the clinton administration and the dubya administration is for whom were these politics and actions for: clinton = american people. dubya = his own personal agenda and his daddy. although clinton did conduct certain activities in the oval office and lied about it, it is evident that his lying about what he did somehow doesn't effect the american person quite like the lies that we hear daily. From: Tony Newbill 2004-10-07 11:13:29 interesting facts, please read with an open mind. i'm trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so i'll know how to vote come november. right now, we have one guy saying one thing. then the other guy says something else. who to believe. lemme see; have i got this straight? clinton awards halliburton no-bid contract in yugoslavia - good... bush awards halliburton no-bid contract in iraq - bad... clinton spends 77 billion on war in serbia - good... bush spends 87 billion in iraq - bad... clinton imposes regime change in serbia - good... bush imposes regime change in iraq - bad... clinton bombs christian serbs on behalf of muslim albanian terrorists-good... bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad... clinton bombs chinese emb-ssy - good...bush bombs terrorist camps - bad... clinton commits felonies while in office - good... bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad... no m-ss graves found in serbia - good... no wmd found iraq - bad... stock market crashes in 2000 under clinton - good... economy on upswing under bush - bad... clinton refuses to take custody of bin laden - good... world trade centers fall under bush - bad... clinton says saddam has nukes - good... bush says saddam has nukes - bad... clinton calls for regime change in iraq - good... bush imposes regime change in iraq - bad... terrorist training in afghanistan under clinton - good... bush destroys training camps in afghanistan - bad... milosevic not yet convicted - good... saddam turned over for trial - bad... ahh, it's so confusing! every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on americans, and then calculates ! the "tax freedom day". this is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government. this year, tax freedom day was april 11th. that's the earliest it has been since1991. its latest day ever was may 2nd, which occurred in 2000. notice any thing special about those dates? recently, john kerry gave a speech in which he claimed americans are actually paying more taxes under bush, despite the tax cuts. he gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim. another interesting fact: both george bush and john kerry are wealthy men. bush owns only one home, his ranch in texas. kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (his ski resort home in idaho is an old barn brought over from europe in pieces. not your average a-frame). bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; kerry paid $90,000. does that sound right? the man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured outa way to avoid paying his own. p-ss this on. only 27 days until the election. "tony newbill" howdy dave , i now more than ever believe that the reason mr. kerry wants in the whitehouse is to change the drug importation policies to allow french canadian drug companies to bring their drugs in , and the heinz corporation is going to be involved as a go between to facilitate the transactions and act as quality control through their doctors within the heinz institute . the uk is loaded with drug companies , that over the last 10 years have isolated themselves from the us drug markets by taking their manufacturing out of here by merging with foreign drug companies in the uk . the heinz corporation is a big business in the uk , and i think the heinz corp is poised to invest in major drug companies in france , and import a nutritional brand of supplemental drugs , and also make the policy changes to allow importation through canada through nafta . this would mean billions to heinz , because their is trillions involved . the bitch is that it would mean lots of layoffs in us based drug manufacturers , and that goes totally in the wrong direction as far as what kerry edwards say about being for the middle cl-ss and exporting jobs out of the us . sobs , i knew they were not in this race for the us , only to manipulate the us to open the drug and nutritional supplemental drug markets for the benefit of everyone but the us people . this makes total sense when you think about teresa heinz kerry changing political parties from a republican to a democrat 2 years ago . money is always the root of all greedy acts . i can see why mr.kerry says he can get the heads of foreign countries to join up with him , if he is going to open the door to this kind of importations for these countries companies . what a boondoggle . have a great day in the usa . |
