![]() Impeach George Bush SADDAM TRIAL This is just the kind of education we need: A Head of State put on trial for policies he implements while in office. Source: The TIP, 2004-07-02 Candidate: TheTIP I'm thinking aloud here, folks. It's billed as the Trial of the Century. Watching some of the Saddam spectacular yesterday, I'm thinking "Why Now?" Why is Bush putting this on now? Ah, actually, this is just the previews. We won't get to see the actual trial until after the election! We just got to see this teeny tidbit so Bush could use it in his campaign ads. Except Saddam spoiled the scene by not playing his role as "Defeated Dictator" as written. Well, I can certaily understand why we won't see the actual trial now. Imagine, a Head of State put on trial by his own people for flawed policies! That could really open the flood gates. Not just in Iraq, but in - say - WASHINGTON DC!! Count 1 How about a President who lies to Congress (State of the Union, '02) Count 2 How about a President who attacks a sovereign nation unprovoked (Still looking for those damned WMD's!) Count 3 How about a Vice President who uses his influence to procure a nice lucrative contract for a company his used to run (and then Halliburton is found to have mis-managed the job, stealing MILLIONS of DOLLARS from American taxpayers.) Oh, hell, I cannot think of a single thing this knot-headed president has done that isn't either a very bad idea or just outright illegal! And then how about putting the entire Congress on trial for not doing their single most important job of oversight - for not seeing to it the Constitution of the United States is upheld. (No, these Bozo's were too busy shouting "Under God" in the "Pledge of Allegience" on the Capital Steps.) Hell, we could clean out that whole city. Now, that's the Trial of the Century. User Originated Comments: From: Linda 2004-07-08 22:53:39 with republicans controlling both houses, the courts and the oval office, waxing nostalgic is about all any but the most right wing can do. on the other hand, voting is still our prerogative and i certainly intend to - often! don't forget the libertarians on your local ballots. From: new yorker 2004-07-08 10:09:30 well i'm out of ideas. i guess we just let this thing play out, but -ssasignations of interim iraqi leaders and a mounting american death toll along with iraqi citizens.....we need to develop cold fusion technology. we have to start leaving this oil alone. From: Linda 2004-07-08 00:01:55 a) imagine what kind of hell saddam would turn iraq into for those that opposed him, if he was reinstated. oy. b) saddam's records? what records? oh, the ones that were lost during the looting?! From: new yorker 2004-07-07 15:34:03 the world was a lot better place when saddam was still in control of iraq. i look at the news now and its the same sad story day after day. sorry to say that i'm almost getting num to the fact that 2,3,4 soldiers were killed today and everyday. why does bush say the world is such a better place now. what is on dope. he should start reading the newspaper (which he won't do). he needs a sense of reality. maybe getting booted out on his -ss in november will wake him up. by the way, saddam is still technically speaking, the leader of iraq. he was taken hostage by the coalition for not complying with inspections that prove no weapons existed, as he was saying the whole time. he was never removed from his post legally or by a majority vote. he was not overthrown or defeated in a declared war. give him his job back, and let's end this mess. From: Murshed 2004-07-07 11:52:07 it would be interesting to see a fair and open trial, but i won't hold my breath. we will most likely get the pentagon edited version, if anything at all. imagine saddam bringing to light his convenient ties with previous administrations, and the sources of all of his chemical and biological weapons. i'm sure he has pretty good records of his deals with the us. |
