![]() Impeach George Bush Healthcare The Healthcare for Americans arguement isn't happening. Instead, the focus has been redirected to Health Insurance, not Health Care. Do you hear the difference? Source: Linda Lindauer, 2007-08-12 Candidate: Diane I was listening to Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt in an interview on C-SPAN. I'm not sure why he was called out - what the pressing news of the day was - but the subject was Healthcare. Leavitt consistantly turned the subject from Healthcare to Health Insurance. Instead of being an advocate of Health and Human Services, Leavitt appeared to be Chief Health Insurance Salesman. Why, for goodness sake, does the Insurance Industry need a Cabinet Post? And why are the American People paying his salary? It's as if Leavitt is an Insurance Lobbyist. Just who is this guy? According to his official biography: Prior to his public service, he (Leavitt) served as president and chief executive officer of a regional insurance firm, establishing it as one of the top insurance brokers in America. Ah, now that makes sense. He IS an insurance salesman. Our insurance bill is the second largest budget item. Auto Insurance Home Owner's Insurance Liability Insurance Health Insurance Life Insurance Medicare Social Security Did I miss anything? Anyone who has ever tried to COLLECT on insurance knows the insurance companies use our premiums to employ a vast army of lawyers to PREVENT us from ever actually succeeding. It is the policy of insurance companies to DENY, DELAY, and DEFEND against the very customers that keep them in business. They're hoping we'll either change companies or die before we succeed. That's how they make their money. And making money is their only business. So if we're going to have a serious discussion on Healthcare, let's just exclude the insurance industry. They have no knowledge of or helpful information on the subject. And that includes, apparently, the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Mike Leavitt. Just one more member of the Bush Administration elevated to a position of influence whose expertise is in making money and avoiding government oversight. Add a comment to this Message in our Forums.
