![]() Impeach George Bush Immigration Bill Well, thank goodness that's over. Now, can we get onto the real issue? Almost never heard in the year-long pseudo debate on Immigration Reform was any reference to what actually needs doing, and what is remarkably easy to accomplish: Pay employees a living wage. All employees. Source: Linda Lindauer, 2007-07-01 Candidate: TheTIP The bogus argument that immigrants will do jobs citizens won't do is ridiculous. There's not a job man has devised that an American Citizen won't do for the right price. As proof, the Army is still able to lure young men and women into fighting a fake war and lost cause...'nuf said. It is the small and large business owners in this country who are unwilling to pay a reasonable and living wage that have created this market for workers from other nations - where wages are even lower - that make so-called illegal immigration an issue. The real issue is wages. The singular reason for not paying liveable wages is greed. Those at the top of the heap want to amass more and more money at the expense of those at the bottom. And what kind of place are they creating in the process? Unwilling to pay taxes on a graduated scale, unwilling to pay their fair share, the public services like fire, police, public education, libraries, social services, health...are all suffering creating an underclass while gated communities keep popping up across the country to keep the riff-raff out! Why not just pay a reasonable wage and be done with the riff-raff. Too reasonable by half, I know. As for worker visas - egad! That has certainly worked in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, hasn't it? Where the Turks immigrate to Germany, work there for lower wages without any hope of citizenship for generations, and no social benefits, and the Germans wonder why they are rioting. Likewise in England, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait...anywhere there are "terrorists" there are "guest workers" programs. Hmmm, any correlation? Anyone? Anyone? Okay, I gotta get back to my cage. My keepers are getting restless. Add a comment to this Message in our Forums. While you're at it, check out our forums too! User Originated Comments: |
