![]() Impeach George Bush Ten Commandments The decision, yesterday, by the Supremes to allow a monument of the Ten Commandments to remain on the lawn of the Texas statehouse is only the latest in a flurry of decisions by the 12 that signify just how unwise they are. Source: The TIP, 2005-06-29 Candidate: Big Government Sometimes I marvel at how thick-headed people in responsible positions can be. Especially when they make decision about which they clearly are ill-informed or ill-prepared. The Ten Commandments monument is a glaring case-in-point. Firstly, it must be pointed out that of the 10, only one, and possible half of another are even against the law in the United States! Thou Shalt Not Steal! We got that one. The other, Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness! Well, it's okay to lie as long as you're not under oath or talking to the government, anyway. The rest? I Am The LORD Your God. Thou Shalt Have No Other God's Before Me. Both good ideas, but not against the law. Not in America! Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above. Well, funny you should mention that. The erecting of a monument, the Ten Commandments, on the lawn of the Texas statehouse, is exactly that - A Graven Image. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. No, that would be too easy. Suffice it to say our language is sprinkled liberally with vain references to both God and Jesus Christ. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Really? Would that be the Seventh Day - Saturday - or the First Day - Sunday. We in America tend to celebrate the Resurrection on the First Day and keep the Sabbath "holey" by golfing. Israel continues to close down some shops Friday night to Saturday, but pizza parlors remain open so suicide bombers have somewhere to go before blowing themselves up after their Sabbath on Friday. Honor thy father and thy mother. No law to enforce this one. Thou shalt not kill. Not only do we not have a law for this commandment, we actually have institutionalized the killing of other human beings. We kill the innocent unborn, we kill the guiilty and convicted. We kill our loved ones who suffer and our enemies at war. We do frown on murder, however. Thou shalt not commit adultery? Puh-lease! Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thy shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's. Where would Capitalism be without Covetousness? Isn't it time we admit what hypocrits we are? Look, if you want to actually obey the Ten Commandments, go ahead. We'll all be better off for it. But to try to erect a monument to them? What's your point? Add a comment to this Message in our Forums. While you're at it, check out our forums too! User Originated Comments: From: Linda 2005-09-01 20:13:46 darth, it is the genius of 'christianity' that death is conquered. by dying, we live. so when others kill off their dieties, jesus beat 'em to the punch. can't kill what's already dead! From: Doink 2005-08-24 03:06:13 arealamerician if you are what is considered a real american...lets get the phuck-outta here...your education level is at a all- time low please remember that dubya has allowed the killing of so many, not us. you speak of 14 year old girls and the abortion issue. are you saying that it is not okay to have an abortion, but rather wait until they have established a social security number, draft them in the military and then have their precious life removed? is this how you think...please move on, take your sick-a-ss views with ya From: Robbie 2005-08-23 22:34:41 first, i believe in god. second, i'm not sure what you mean by "pull the church back into the state", but i'm an antidisestablishmentarianist, because i don't the the state should do anything at all, especially not tax people. i don't have any desire to kill babies, but as you've seen from mr. bush, he doesn't care all that much either. he had the opportunity to change the law of the land and did nothing. on the other hand, his cr-ss treatment of the civilians of iraq makes it clear that he's got no love for humanity, a trait that jesus showed always. you yourself seem to be very angry. why not love your enemy? From: arealamerician 2005-08-23 20:13:41 you people make me sick, just because you dont beleive in god doesnt keep us from our right to honor our god. it is unwise to pull the church back into the state which is exactly what you all want. tax money wasted on keeping god off the lawn of the tx statehouse is not well spent. dont you people have a baby to kill, i mean really there are 14 year old girls that need their babies aborted why dont you go kill some more lives before they even have a chance to tell you that they would enjoy life unlike you heartless unhappy smucks. you make me sick. with lots of loves and prayers devoted to you sicko's i hope god will save you after all you have destroyed that rightfully belongs to him.
