![]() Impeach George Bush World Domination - War In Iraq What's the Game? Why is Cheney so interested in Pre-emptively attacking Afghanistan and Iraq? Why is Bush so interested in doing so without the permission of Congress? Source: TheTip, 2002-09-22 Candidate: Big Government Control of the world's energy reserves has been a central issue for international politics since the beginnings of colonialism. But that it continues to be an issue suprises many Americans. After all, we live in the best country in the world, what do we want with desert wastelands in the middle of Asia and Europe? The answer, unfortunately, is greed. Those people in the Middle East have an abundance of a valuable commodity - energy, and they have it in one of its cheapest forms, oil. After all, you can still buy a gallon of gas for less than two dollars, and that gallon of gas will take you 45 Miles in a 2000+ pound vehicle. Similar mileage in a nuclear-powered vehicle would still cost more than $100. So we're stuck with oil for the time being. So why don't we just pay them for it? The answer is simple, they want to make as much money as they can in trade for their oil, we want to pay as little as possible. We use a variety of tricks to try to control the price of oil, but for the most part, the price of oil is controled by OPEC. And since oil is such an important commodity in the US, we are significantly under the control of the Oil Producing Nations (Organization of Petrolium Exporting Countries). At the same time, we have on our side by far the most powerful military machine ever contrived by humankind. And the immanent threat of war keeps the price of oil reasonably low, since changes in the pricing structure of oil are considered changes in the relative power balance between nations. Continuing the immanent threat of war against said nations is a key tactic in ensuring the ongoing low-prices of oil, despite its being a non-renewable resource. Usually, non-renewable resources become more expensive as they become depleted (like Ivory, for instance). So as long as our military might can maintain the domination of OPEC, our gas prices remain low, and our automobile manufacturers can continue to sell oil-burning cars, and their suppliers can continue to sell them computers, steel, software, rubber and labor. If they were forced to switch, many of the major automobile companies would be out of business, and along with them several major sectors of the US economy (Gas, Mechanics, Auto Retailers, etc.) Since our elected officials can't preside over a decade in which our economy falls to ruins, we go the cheaper route - maintain military domination over OPEC's oil reserves. What we wonder is whether or not all of this is really necessary. Sure, GM, Exxon, Ford and Shell would be put out of business overnight if we were to stop supporting the military domination of the middle east, but the resulting replacement industries (Electric Vehicles, Trains, etc.) would provide ample economic opportunity as well as providing a platform for sustainable mass transportation. This Economic story, however, isn't the end. There's also the genuine desire of a few powerful people to "Take over the world" - like Dr. Evil in Austin Powers. The constant competitive drive has led those people with access to the means for world domination to desire it as an end unto itself. For to the economic elite of the US, it matters little what the overal economic state of the US is (except during elections), only that the US continue to maintain its position of power, and that at any cost. Hence, Mr. Bush and the Republicrats have a vested interest in the continuation of the military industrial complex, with an eye toward world domination. They have the means, motive and express interest, the only question is whether or not Citizens of Good Conscience can allow them to continue their quest at the expense of the American People. From: Thetip 2004-02-25 00:00:00 done. From: Em 2004-02-25 00:00:00 you should add another option on your opinion poll: the war with iraq is motivated by greed and world domination and the attemp of the present administration to divert attention away from its unethical practices and political incompetence. |
